Variety Theatre

October 30, 2015

I had the opportunity recently to roam the historic Variety Theatre on Cleveland's west side.   The theatre opened in 1927 and has played host to everything from vaudeville, film, The Replacements, and R.E.M.. The Variety is a huge complex that takes up a whole city block and also includes storefronts and apartments.

Our host, Patrick Colvin, was very passionate about the theatre as he told stories of it's movie house days, rock n' roll, and even hauntings. Colvin and his group, the Friends of the Historic Variety Theatre are currently restoring this incredible venue.

The Variety Theatre is located at Lorain Ave and W. 118th St.
